文中的winter solstice是“冬至”的意思，是二十四節(jié)氣(solar term)一是每年陽歷12月21日至23日之間，冬至過后，夜空星象完全改為冬季星空(starry sky)，并從這一天開始“進(jìn)九”。而此時(shí)的南半球恰逢炎炎夏日。(midsummer)。相關(guān)詞匯也有：立冬(winter begins)，大雪(heavy snow)，小寒(slight cold)等。
