昨晚聽《英語口語8000句》，這套教材主要介紹日常生活口語，大多是短句，先講中文，再念英語。當(dāng)聽到“你能把碗洗了嗎？”這句中文時(shí)，我腦子里第一反應(yīng)就是“Can you wash the dishes?”,但后面揭曉的答案卻是“Can you do the dishes?”。原來美語地道的表達(dá)用“do”來代替具體的動(dòng)詞！
這個(gè)用法在美劇中很常見，但讓中國人用，可能沒那么容易。因?yàn)槲覀兞?xí)慣了把“do”直接翻譯成“做”，比如說“do your homework”（做作業(yè)），中英文完全能對上號的，中國人容易理解并能熟練使用。
所以我想趁這個(gè)機(jī)會，把“do”用來表示“to perform an action or an activity”的用法總結(jié)一下，供大家參考。
1.Do your homework before you watch TV.
2.It’s a pleasure doing business with you. 和你做生意很高興。
3.do a university degree 攻讀大學(xué)學(xué)位
4.do research into French history 研究法國歷史
5.He still has to do his military service. 他仍需服兵役。
6.She does aerobics once a week. 她每周跳一次健身操。
7.指日常事務(wù)，如打掃衛(wèi)生、洗洗刷刷、整理家務(wù)、修修補(bǔ)補(bǔ)等。do the+n. 或do my+n.
舉幾個(gè)例子：
do one’s teeth 刷牙
do the silver 擦光銀器
do the flowers 插花
I like the way you’ve done your hair. 我喜歡你梳的發(fā)型。
We’ll have someone to do the roof. 我們得找人來修理房頂。
8.指各種各樣的行為或動(dòng)作，do+the/my/some/much etc.+v-ing

10. 表示produce or make,? do+n.
舉幾個(gè)例子：
She did five copies of the agenda. 她將議程表復(fù)印了5份。
Does this pub do lunches? 這個(gè)酒館供應(yīng)午餐嗎？
Who’s doing the food at the wedding reception? 誰承辦婚宴的酒席？

之前說過，在美劇中，用“do”來代替具體的動(dòng)詞這個(gè)用法很常見，舉幾個(gè)《老友記》中的例子：
（1）S01E06（第一季第六集）:
Rachel: Look! I cleaned! I did the windows, I did the floors... I even used all the attachments on the vacuum, except that little round one with the bristles, I don't know what that's for. 擦窗戶、掃地
（2）S02E01:
JULIE: I was thinking of doing it a little shorter, you know, like Andy McDowell's new haircut? 我想把頭發(fā)剪短一點(diǎn)。

“do”除了上面的例子中提到的用法，還有很多很多用法，不要小看這個(gè)“小詞”哦！遇到“老詞新用法”一定要留心總結(jié)。
