1. provide：提供，供給

Supply：供給，提供

provide強調人的深謀遠慮，側重用貯備等方法作充分準備，Provide sth for sb: 給某人提供；也可用provide sb with sth.；Supply是普通用詞，指提供任何所需求的東西，給某人提供某物可以用supply sb with sth，也可以用supply sth to/for sb.

例：

The company will provide the data to you to get the accurate budget.

公司將為你提供數(shù)據(jù)以得到精確的預算。

Our country provides us a lot of rights.

國家給我們提供了許多權利。

We promise we will supply the best service to every customer.

我們承諾我們將為每一位顧客提供最好的服務。

The gas station supplies communities with gas.

煤氣站為社區(qū)供應煤氣。

2. Afford：給予；提供

Offer：提供

afford 一般只用于抽象事物。v.負擔，支付；當“提供”講時，多用于指抽象事物的提供，也可指經(jīng)濟能力上的供給或支付。

offer 最普通用詞，多指主動提出或提供意見或東西等，但是否接受由對方自行決定，給某人提供某物offer sb sth，也可offer sth to sb.

例：

Dancing affords great pleasure to me.

跳舞給我?guī)砗艽髽啡ぁ?/span>

This new strategy did afford the enterprise a good profit.

新策略確實給這個企業(yè)帶來大量的利潤。

You should offer your ID card when you enter the building.

當你進入這棟大樓的時候，要出示你的身份證。

Could you offer me a cup of coffee.

能不能給我一杯咖啡。

3. Accommodate：供應

Equip：供應（所需之物）

Furnish：提供，供應

accommodate v提供住宿、房間，適應，迎合，遷就，accommodate with向……供應，提供；equip 側重提供與技術有關的裝備或設備等；furnish 多指添置家具等供給生活的必需品或為生活舒適提供所需的服務設施，可接雙賓語。

例：

As a new employee, he is accommodating himself to the new circumstances.

作為一個新人，他正使自己適應新環(huán)境。

She is a kind girl and always glad to accommodate friends when they need help.

她是一個熱心的女孩，總是樂意在朋友需要幫助的時候給他們提供方便。

The army needs to be equipped with training regularly.

這支軍隊需要定期做訓練。

The spy often furnished the government information.

間諜經(jīng)常為政府提供情報。

4. Present：提供，送給

Volunteer：主動提供

Propose：提出（計劃、行動或共表決的方案等）

present 既可指提出意見建議等，又可指拿出某物供人欣賞或贈送。

volunteer 與offer同義，側重出于自愿，而不是壽命做某事。

propose 指直接而主動地提出問題或建議等，也指在討論或爭辨中提出具體意見或建議。

例：

He made an outline of his views and got ready to present it at the morning.

他把意見寫成綱要，準備在會上發(fā)言。

He volunteered the important news.

他主動提供了這個重要的消息。

The plan about saving hostage will be proposed at the meeting.

關于拯救人質的計劃將會在會議上被提出。
